I apologize for being somewhat ghost the past few weeks since my leadership course has ended. Along with final exams and the start of another term, I recently switched places of employment. I was recently hired as the Permits/Zoning Clerk and Lead for the City of Center Point, AL. YAY!!!! I am soo happy about my new position and the responsibilities that come with it. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the city of Center Point, it's a city on the outskirts of Birmingham, AL that was incorporated in 2002. Some of my job duties include issuing building permits (electrical, mechanical, gas, and renovations), sending out notices to those residents that are in violation of city ordinances and address look-ups (to verify that a home or business is actually within city limits). The environment is so laid-back and everyone acts like a family. This is quite a change for me and I love it. Also, its befitting to have this type of environment since I am taking my last and final class in the MPA program at Troy University, the Capstone. I almost forgot, I was recently invited to join Pi Alpha Alpha, the National Public Administration's Honor Society because of my stellar GPA!!!! So, what lies ahead for me?
- Learning a lot of ordinances
- Embracing the new challenges and tasks of my new job
- Ordering graduation invitations
- Graduation in about a month and 1/2
- Looking for an apartment
Words along cannot truly express how grateful and blessed I am. I am so thankful for the great friends and family that I have that have been with me every step of the way during my grad school journey. Actually, I think a few of them are more excited about me graduating than I am, lol! In closing, I hope everyone's work week is off to a great start and you're keeping warm. By the way, don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend for daylight savings. Toodles!!!
